Here's a poem for you...

I'm a big fan of Garrison Keillor's "The Writer's Almanac". Everyday he has some significant historical events, usually related to literature and he reads a poem. Yesterdays was one of the more interesting I've heard:

What She Was Wearing

by Denver Butson

this is my suicide dress
she told him
I only wear it on days
when I'm afraid
I might kill myself
if I don't wear it

you've been wearing it
every day since we met
he said

and these are my arson gloves

so you don't set fire to something?
he asked

exactly

and this is my terrorism lipstick
my assault and battery eyeliner
my armed robbery boots

I'd like to undress you
he said
but would that make me an accomplice?

and today
she said I'm wearing
my infidelity underwear
so don't get any ideas

and she put on her nervous breakdown hat
and walked out the door

Brilliant!!!

(Hopefully I don't get in trouble for putting it up here ;-)

Google searching is good for your brain! Maybe.

With the usual caveats that this is preliminary, exploratory data, this paper suggests that doing Google searches can expand your mind.

I'm glad to hear that ;-)

Friday the 13th!!

Ooooh, scawy!

Some news of the day:

  • Dave now has a 40 point lead on me in the hockey pool. There was a stats issue at Pool Expert yesterday and when I checked this morning, 40 points!! I think there must still be a problem. Maybe I have to do all the calcs myself.

  • A US Federal Court has ruled that there is no causal connection between the MMR vaccine and autism. This site has a summary of the ruling:
  • A Bombardier plane crashed into a house near Buffalo last night. A lady on board lost her husband in the NYC 9/11 disaster!
We're heading to the Muskoka's for the weekend! By the looks of this page we should have a good time:

Already!?

Chloe has started school. At the tender age of 2.868...

OK, it's just 2 days a week but it still seems so sudden and way too soon.

I was hoping Rachael would take a picture but the battery in the camera is dead so I'm putting up this one that Alana (Hunter) took just last month:

Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana!!

Oh, for posterity, here's the link for the school:

And a map of the walk from our house (for Rachael's benefit until she has her license). A bit twisty but supposedly in the summer you can shortcut along that pond that is east of Ferndale Dr.
